On November 19, 1493, Christopher Columbus discovered Puerto Rico on his second voyage to claim lands for Spain’s King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella, and initially named the island San Juan Bautista for St. John the Baptist, and the town where his ships made port, Puerto Rico (rich port). At the time of Christopher Columbus’ discovery, Puerto Rico was inhabited by as many as 50,000 Taino or Arawak Indians, many of whom died because of warfare, exploitation by Spanish settlers, and new infectious diseases brought to the Caribbean island by Europeans. The city of Puerto Rico quickly became one of Spain’s most important military outposts in the Caribbean, a stepping stone in the passage from Europe to Mexico, Cuba, Central America and the northern territories of South America, and the names were eventually switched, at which point the island became known as Puerto Rico, and the city San Juan. Kids Horseback Riding Lessons – Learn to Ride in Rincon PR!

Rincon Riding Club in Rincon Puerto Rico is offering kids horseback riding lessons beginning this Saturday, August 22, where kids of all ages and levels of experience can learn to ride in a safe environment, guided by experienced horseback riding instructors.
