RSS teaches, coaches and challenges everyone from novice to advanced surfers. The staff is made up of true watermen that will help you take your ability and knowledge to the next level. Rincon is perhaps best known as a surfer’s haven, after being discovered by the world following the 1968 World Surfing Championships. Surfing in Rincon offers a variety of breaks with different waves suited for any learning curve or style. Catch an easy longboard wave at Maria’s or rip it on your shortboard at Domes. Surfing season in Rincon Puerto Rico lasts from Dec – April, but you can occasionally catch some small swells in the summer or fall.
If you’re new to surfing and have never ever been on a board, or if it’s been a long time and you want to improve on the basics, then Learn to Surf is more your style. The instructor will tailor the class to your ability.
If you’ve been surfing for several years and have an advanced understanding of the basics (stand up on the wave, ride the face regularly or perform advance maneuvers such as turns) then you might be ready for the Guided Surf Adventure, which takes you on an all-day guided surf trip around Rincon to some of the best, secret and more advanced surf breaks. This is your chance to surf with a local and get insider knowledge about Rincon surfing.
On this tour an experienced local guide will take you to a great selection of surf breaks on the West Coast. You’ll learn what to watch for at each break, from reef and rock to currents and swell patterns. Plus, you’ll get a tour of the off-the-beaten-path surf spots that many visitors never get a chance to visit. Your instructor will give helpful pointers depending on your level of ability – from improving on the basics, to style tips on the more advanced maneuvers.
If you have younger, advanced surfers that are yearning for a challenge, but mom and dad don’t want them in the water alone this is a great, safe option for a more adventurous surf experience.
This 3 hour experience includes transportation to and from surf spots and an hour of video, so you can commemorate your Puerto Rico surf adventure! If you want a surf photographer to accompany your group out for the day, we can arrange one for an additional charge.
All instructors are experienced local surfers who understand the waters and are bilingual and lifeguard, CPR and ISA certified. Group lessons are limited to a maximum of three students per instructor to ensure safety at all times.
This private group surf introduction class is the perfect amount of time for a beginner surfer in Rincon to get a taste for the waters. Spend three hours learning the basics of surfing. You’ll be introduced to surfing fundamentals such as paddling and catching waves, obtain basic surf awareness and learn the techniques of standing up and riding waves. If you have surfed a few times before, this class will help refine your techniques. If you’ve never surfed before, this is your opportunity to try! In this class you will have a private group with no outside students. The instructor will be dedicated to your group and can arrange the orientation at the villa or wherever you prefer.
